Cub Camp – Leeds Scout Campsite March 2009
I am pleased to tell you about our forthcoming camp to kick off Cub Camps in 2009. This will be held at Leeds Scout Campsite over the weekend of 13th to 15th March.
We will depart for camp on the Friday evening around tea time and return on Sunday afternoon. The site is very well equipped set over several acres with a mixture of woodland and open grassy areas. We are planning to use many of the campsite’s on site activities and a variety of Scouting activities. We hope to have a campfire and possibly some outdoor cooking as well as lots of outdoor games.
Accommodation for the weekend camp will be indoors within the Scout centre. Cubs will sleep in rooms with Cubs of their own sex. The centre comprises a large activity hall, toilet facilities, a well-equipped kitchen and all the other amenities needed for the camp.
I have calculated the cost per Cub to be £35. This includes full board and all activities.
To help with booking your holidays, we also have 3 more camps booked this year on the following dates:
- 5th to 7th June 2009. This will be our first outdoor Cub camp of 2009. Details to follow.
- Provisionally Saturday 8th August to Tuesday 11th August 2009. This camp is for all member of the Scout Group following the very successful Group summer camp held in the summer holidays in 2007.
- Provisionally 11th to 13th December. Details including confirmation of date to follow.
We last used the Leeds Scout Campsite in 2007 and had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. The facilities on site are superb and we will look forward to returning for another weekend. If your child would like to attend the forthcoming camp please could you complete the attached permission form and pay the fee by Thursday 12th February to secure a place.
As a suggestion, to help cover the cost of the Cub Camp I have heard comments from various parents of Cubs earning the privilege of taking part in the Cub Camp by undertaking tasks around the home and receiving money towards the cost of the camp.
Please feel free to contact me should you have any queries about the information above or any other matter regardless of how trivial you may think the question is. As leaders we believe every Cub should be given the chance to take part in everything we do so I would encourage you all to try and let your children experience life at Cub Camp.
