New Building

Just a quick reminder that we will be holding a working party in the new building this Saturday between 9am until 3pm. We'd be grateful for any help from parents, even if only for an hour or two. We have a number of jobs for the working party including glossing doors and wood work, constructing   storage shelves, laying insulation and boarding out the upstairs storage area. If any one has any of the following tools and equipment, we'd be grateful if they could be brought to the working party on Saturday:

  •  Painting gear for glossing
  •  Battery operated screwdrivers for boarding out
  •  Drills
  •  Circular saws and other wood cutting tools
  •  Protective clothing to help lay roof insulation

We'd be grateful for any help on Saturday.

The Cub football season resumes with the Spring Trophy tournament beginning on Saturday 14th January with an away trip to Addingham. We'll be meeting at Addingham Primary School at 8:30am for an 8:45am kick off. A link to the venue is below:

Just a quick reminder that there is no Cub meeting tomorrow night (Thursday 8th Dec) due to Group Camp this weekend. It should hopefully give everyone a bit more time to get ready for the weekend away.

Group Camp reminders

As a reminder, we're meeting at the Scout hut at 6:15pm on Friday. Cubs need to have their evening meal before they arrive. Make sure they have good strong footwear (I'd strongly suggest either walking boots or wellington boots) as it will be very wet under foot with all the rain we've had this week. We'll be going off paths so we're bound to encounter some particularly muddy spots.

Also, hats and gloves will be essential for this weekend given the recent fall in temperature. Please make sure your child has plenty of warm clothing on for the walk on Friday.

Any questions, please let me know.

Working Party - thank you

I forgot to thank all those parents and Cubs who came to the working party on Saturday to help decorate the new Chevin Community Centre. We were very grateful for all your help with the decorating effort. The building is really taking shape and looks fantastic after the work that was done on Saturday.

Pre-launch evening

From next week, the two meeting rooms in the new building will be in use for our weekly Cub meetings.

I write news of a couple of events planned for the new extension to the Scout building taking place this month.

Working party

The Cubs have recently started using some of the areas in the new extension, with Thursday's meeting having a number of groups preparing displays for the pre-launch evening later this month (see below). As work has advanced quickly on the internal fitting out of the building, we're now at a stage where we need to paint all the walls and ceilings before the final plumbing and electrical fittings are put in place.

The theme of tonight's meeting was morse code! Everyone learnt how to write and read in morse code, but most importantly how to send the s.o.s signal! Next week we will be finishing our canvas paintings.
