Accessibility statement
We want everyone to be able to use this website — including people who navigate with a keyboard rather than a mouse, who use a screen reader or other assistive technology, or who need to enlarge the text. We aim to meet the internationally recognised WCAG 2.2 level AA standard.
What we've done
- A clear, consistent page structure with proper headings and a “skip to content” link.
- Text descriptions for images, so they make sense when read aloud.
- Pages you can use with the keyboard alone, enlarge or zoom, and view comfortably on a phone.
- Text and colours chosen to stay readable, with good contrast.
- Forms with clear labels and helpful error messages.
Where we know we can do better
We check accessibility as we build the site, but we're a small, volunteer-run group and haven't yet completed a full review with every assistive technology. A few of the historic photographs on our history pages are old, low-resolution scans, and one part of our forms — the spam check — is provided by another company. If any of this gets in your way, please tell us.
Tell us, or ask for another format
If you have trouble using any part of this site, or you'd like information from it in another format (for example large print, plain text, or over the phone), please get in touch and we'll do our best to help. Your feedback also helps us improve the site for everyone.
